
Richmond Democrats nominate Colette McEachin for Commonwealth’s Attorney
The Richmond City Democratic Committee announced that Colette McEachin, won the party’s 2019 nomination for Commonwealth’s Attorney. The special primary to select a nominee took place over two days where more than 2,500 Richmond Democrats voted. The special primary election results were:
- Colette McEachin — 2,115
- Alexander L. Taylor, Jr. — 429
The Chair of the Richmond City Democratic Committee Jamie Nolan released the following statement:
“Congratulations to Colette McEachin for winning the Democratic nomination today. We are grateful for your commitment to reform our criminal justice system and pursue alternatives to incarceration. Working together with community leaders, I know we can create a more equitable justice system for all Richmonders. Thank you to Alex Taylor for your many years serving Richmond’s community, mentoring youth, and supporting Democratic values.”
