What: East End Quilt Collective
When: Tuesday (TODAY!) 8/14 from 6 to 8 PM
Where: East End Public Library at 1200 N 25th St, Richmond VA
“Join Oakwood Arts tomorrow, Tuesday Aug 14th, 6pm-8pm for the first in a series of conversations about East End Cemetery, the community it served, and the effort to restore it.
Founded in 1897, East End is the final resting place of thousands of African American Richmonders. The first talk, by restoration volunteer and advocate Erin Hollaway Palmer, will highlight the history of the cemetery, the forces that contributed to its decline, and the people working to reclaim it from nature and neglect.
We’ll also be introducing our own arts-based approach to the restoration and commemoration of this vital community site. Come find out how to get involved!”
