I do think some time and labor put in to cleaning up the sidewalks/curbs and planting a few street trees early in the renovation would be a good contribution to the neighborhood while the renovation progresses. But this is rarely the practice.
I kinda like the old look better. This kind of siding is ugly and lacks character, same with the porch bannisters. The plants looked nice too if a little unkempt but I guess they can grow back.
