In and around the vacant Blue Wheeler

The former Blue Wheeler convenience store closed early in 2016, with word being that the building needed a decent amount of repair. The property hit the market in October, with word coming a few weeks ago that the building had a buyer.

I was fortunate enough to be able to tour the property Monday afternoon with some developer folks who are interested in the property. Behind the fairly beat up storefront area, there is a storage area and a hole that accesses the low-ceiling basement. The stairs beside the store lead up to an apartment space that looks like it’s been vacant for a long time. The little building next door is full of rubbish and has significant ceiling damage.

Any update on what the future holds for this building?

Wow is about all I can come up with at the moment. That newspaper – the newspaper is dated 1981. Lot of work to do there. The pressed tin looked interesting, though I could not figure if it was on a ceiling or wall. Any clue, John M, as to what they intend to do? And yes I think you were very lucky to get a tour and do a photo shoot inside!

@ crd – there is tin all.over the place in there. In bad shape, but lovely, nonetheless.

I thought it was sold after 6 weeks on the market.

I’m thinking it’s going to be a new, high class diner – Perley’s on the Hill.

It is an amazing space that needs an amazing amount of work! I’ve heard that no one has lived upstairs since the early 80s, which fits with that newspaper.

Look at all the windows.
Could be such a bright, full of natural light space.
What is known about the buyers intentions?
Set up for commercial with large apartment on top.
