Selden Richardson sent in these photos of 809 Mosby Street from 2002. That whole side of the street was mostly vacant in the years following, and a number of houses were demolished in in 2006 and in 2007.
The house at 809 Mosby was sold in 2007 and renovated soon after.
The two adjacent houses at 805-807 Mosby Street were renovated in 2009, and later nominated for a Golden Hammer Award.

I love that house! I took pictures of it as well while it was being renovated and I did that block before the demolitions because I found those houses very architecturally interesting. People always focus on the high-styled houses, but we are running out of houses that look like those did in that block. I wish that apartment building could have been demolished. It just doesn’t belong there.

Wasn’t that where Coco had her place of “business”?
I wonder what the standards are for winning that award. The renovations at 807 and 805 Mosby st. were pretty cheap and the one building that I know of is slowly crumbling, it has serious foundation issues. I agree with Cadeho about the apartment building, I wish it wasn’t there too. I also wish someone would do something with the vacant lot’s between that dilapidated Mosby st market and Carrington . A lot of people use that area to do their drugs/sell drugs or go over to the steps on Carrington and use it as a public bathroom every single day. Kids play on those stairs and on those lots. Then you have the people who come and dump out a bunch of cat food for the alley cats. I understand they want to feed the cats and all but you are also making the rat problem in the area worse.
