CHPN and seven other sites are today launching Small Richmond, a new site featuring local independent news in the city.
The eight participating sites cover core Richmond geography and
areas of interest. We are stoked to partner with Brookland Park Post, Dogtown Dish, Oregon Hill, Randolph RVA, Richmond Outside, Springhill RVA, and VCU Ram Nation to connect Richmond readers and publishers.

Christian, this appears to be just blog aggregation. Think of it as the Indeed.com of Richmond news – just screenscraping the othersites. So, one click instead of 8. It will cross pollenate readership and maybe help get some ad dollars to pay these poor volunteers’ server fees. But I don’t want to speak on john’s behalf. But in the wake of RVANews, yes, why not combine small news sources into one for survival.

Yeah, them closing up is part of the timing of this. This harks back to what the early ideas for how RVA New could work, with more emphasis on the individual voices and sites. Hope you find something new to read that you might’ve missed otherwise!
