Noticed the boarded up windows at Cedar Street recently? The place hasn’t been abandoned, the stained glass windows of the sanctuary are being restored.

The windows are especially beautiful when lit from the inside at night. This seems to be a relatively rare event – I think the modern addition at the back is used for most services and events due to the size of the congregation. Hopefully when the restoration is finished, they can leave the lights on occasionally…
This corner is going to look gorgeous when complete.
This is a wonderful investment by CSBCOG in their historic church building that is the iconic structure of Union Hill. The history of that building and the two congregations that have occupied it is integral to the architectural and social story of our neighborhood. Thank you Cedar Street!

Amazing windows in historic Cedar Street nee Union Station Church. There is a time in this church history that needs to be sunlit: when the main congregation departed for the West end and met in TJ high school while Reveille UMC was built. C. 1957.
This was not a pleasant time period in Church Hill.
Here’s a nod to that https://chpn.net/news/2010/07/06/two-churches_14297/
Thanks for the link. My in-laws, now deceased, were part of the move to Reveille. Wounds have not healed.

I work for the general contractor on this project and am very proud to be part of such a historic renovation to our neighborhood. It is going to be beautiful once complete.

It is the view from my front porch. Very proud of Cedar Street for committing to this project of restoring this amazing structure.
