Stone Brewing project will redraw Wharf Street

The RTD’s Michael Martz has a great follow-up on the details on the more public-facing aspects of the Stone Brewing move to Richmond:

Under the proposed performance agreement between Stone, Richmond and the EDA, the city would close Water Street, complete the capital trail to the city limits, improve Main Street, and demolish the Lehigh silos as part of a commitment to preserve the “viewshed” on the riverfront, as envisioned under the master plan adopted two years ago.

The city plans to demolish the silos early next year. It already has pulled up the tracks for the rail spur to Lehigh that will be the path for the capital trail as it passes through the terminal and Lehigh properties to the site now proposed for office development as Richmond on the James.

Ooh, I was wondering why the tracks had been pulled. I’m looking forward to see what it looks like once all finished.

But none of it was there when they named the city. They should take it all out and let nature take it back.
