Kate Hoof put together this great look at the inaugural Armstrong HS Cycling Team. Organized by Richmond Cycling Corps, the rolling Wildcats are the nation’s only inner-city high school cycling team.

FABULOUS. Congratulations. During my 11 years of coaching youth soccer in the city, I learned that some of my best athletes had poor nutrition due to poverty. I marveled at what they were able to accomplish sometimes, given that they had so little “fuel in the tank.” I would contribute to a Kickstarter program that helps ensure these kids receive the food/fuel they need to compete and I suspect others would be willing to contribute or partner with these terrific cycling coaches to “Fuel Armstrong’s Cyclists.”

“My goal, my dream is to really take the seventh district, the East End of Richmond, and just make it a cycling mecca.” The coach’s goal is a good one and I hope earns the support of all of us who live in the district.
