More from the RPD:
Richmond Police detectives have arrested a man wanted in connection to an early morning shooting today.
At approximately 12:30 a.m., officers responded to the 1600 block of Mechanicsville Turnpike for a report of a male shot. The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives canvassed the area, spoke with witnesses and quickly developed two suspects. One person was found in a home in the 3200 block of N Street around 5:30 a.m.
When the individual would not immediately come out of the home, officers set up a perimeter and deployed the Department’s SWAT team and negotiators. At approximately 9 a.m., the individual surrendered without incident to negotiators. Detectives are still looking for the second person.
They do not believe today’s shooting is related to any other incidents in the city.
They ask anyone with any information about today’s crime to call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000 or text Crime Stoppers at 274637, using the key word “ITip” followed by your tip. Both methods are anonymous.
