CHAT buys former funeral home for new school

Church Hill Activities and Tutoring has picked up the former Scott-Lightfoot Funeral Home at the corner of 31st and N streets. CHAT plans to use the property as the new home for the Church Hill Academy, a private, Christian faith-based, nonprofit high school.

The 6,820-square-foot space is sizable enough for classrooms, a computer lab, kitchen and dining spaces, and a multipurpose area. A large attached garage also will be put to use for enrichment and after-school programs. […]

Strickland said CHAT is working with the city on zoning permits. The organization hopes to do some minor renovations on the building and have it ready for the 2012-13 school year.
