Richmond police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a decomposed corpse of a woman discovered Monday in an abandoned house in the 800 block of North 22nd Street. [via]
Sources said First Precinct police were alerted to the grisly remains by a local prostitute who found the corpse when she took a customer into the house. The sources said the body appeared to have been in the house for some time, perhaps months, given the fact the remains were skeletal, with the exception of the torso.
Police spokeswoman Cynthia Price said the discovery of the body is being treated as a “death investigation” pending an autopsy by the medical examiner’s office.
Anyone with information on the death is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
