tree murder on 27th Street
A reader writes from North 27th Street between Franklin and Grace Streets:
They came here this morning to trim the limbs from 2 trees interfering with power lines - and they CUT DOWN THE WHOLE F*CKING TREE! Two of them! Completely healthy, beautiful mature red oaks that were 75 years old, at least.

3 buildings to look at

owner of much vacant property pleads guilty
Oliver Lawrence pleaded guilty to almost 150 building code for on 25 or so vacant properties. Vacant Richmond lists just one of Lawrence’s companies, Bayou Properties, as having 81 vacant properties across the city. (previously) [via]

An early morning kitchen fire broke out at 1615 North 27th Street. No injuries were reported.

police chase and capture
A combined Virginia State and Richmond City Police chase ended in the rear of 606 North 27th Street early Saturday morning. housefire on 27th
A duplex at 1310 and 1312 North 27th Street burned at about 1:30AM last night. All of the residents escaped unharmed.

a story from 27th Street
A neighbor saw a man steal a lawn mower from another neighbor and called the police, but the story doesn’t end there. He followed the suspect all the while calling the police and even photographed the suspect with the lawn mower. Now, the cops didn’t get the suspect (but have asserted that they will), but the lawn mower was returned before the victim even knew that it was stolen.
