Community Planning in Richmond workshop

In recognition of National Community Planning Month, the City of Richmond Department of Community Development is sponsoring a workshop on Community Planning in Richmond on Saturday, October 18, from 8:30-11:30AM at SunTrust Bank (919 E. Main Street). Topics to include: Tools for neighborhood planning, Green planning in Richmond, Communications today, Strengthening community organizations, and Civic associations meet and greet. Hands On Greater Richmond day of action

Hands On Greater Richmond is organizing a day of community action on Saturday, October 18th and wants you to “imagine how much better Richmond could be if we all spent just 5 hours doing something together for the community.”

Imagine joining hundreds of other volunteers to make a difference for greater Richmond on Saturday, October 18, 2008. Friends, neighbors, families, and anyone interested in making a difference will transform our community by volunteering at over 30 nonprofits on this one day. Hands On Greater Richmond needs you to make this day successful.

planning commission meeting

A piece of legislation proposed by the Urban Forestry Division of the City of Richmond that is heading to the city’s planning commission on Monday, October 20, at 1:30pm. The ordinance states that:
No tree shall be planted at least 25 feet from street intersections and at least 10 feet from alleys.
No tree shall be planted closer than 10 feet to a utility pole.
