In today’s paper – http://www.inrich.com/cva/ric/news.apx.-content-articles-RTD-2008-10-06-0177.html

VCU is tearing down the art deco building at 12th and Broad? The article gives the 12th and Marshall St address -I wonder why?

I wish VCU would leave the deco hopital alone and have the I M Pei firm design buildings on other sites. If I see anymore beige paint and stainless steel, I’ll scream.

It was announced many months ago that VCU was going to tear down the Williams Building, behind the West Hospital Building. This is the spot where they are building the new hospital. The demolition of the West Hospital has been put on hold for the near future, from what I understand.

Thanks for clearing that up. I hate seeing that art deco block go…it’s the fossil between the old and the new.
