Despite leading for most of the game, Armstrong lost to Henrico 20-15 in a game at home that had been postponed due to Friday’s rain. The loss drops them to 2-7 overall, 0-5 in the Capital District.

Yesterday a contingent of State Police SWAT officers descended upon 2319 M Street (the white house with green trim, SW corner of 24th and M Streets), a location long alleged to be an open air drug market.

fatal fire at S and 30th Streets

A woman has died as a result of injuries from a fire early Sunday morning in her house at the intersection of S and North 30th Streets. The unidentified woman was the only person in the house at the time of the fire. [via]

Richmond’s Old & Historic Districts 1957-2007

The Virginia Center for Architecture will celebrate a pictorial exhibit highlighting 50 years of preservation of Richmond’s historic properties and neighborhoods. SCV still interested in Oakwood

wtvr has 3-minute story on the ongoing bid by the Sons of Confederate Veterans to take over maintenance at Oakwood Cemetery. The story is a good look at both the finiancial savings for the city and the issues of how this might play out in “a predominantly African-American community”.

City Council passing an ordinance last night that makes it punishable by fines and jail time to leave a dog tethered for more than one hour in a 24-hour span. The ordinance passed 7-0, with Councilwomen Delores L. McQuinn and Ellen F. Robertson abstaining. [via]

#4 Varina 42, Armstrong 8

After facing #1 Highland Springs last week, the Wildcats were at #4 Varina this week and lost this time 42-8. Armstrong briefly led 8-7; the loss dropped them to 2-6 overall, 0-4 in the Capital District. The last 2 games are Henrico at home and away at Atlee, both of which be Wildcats victories.
