police chase and capture
A combined Virginia State and Richmond City Police chase ended in the rear of 606 North 27th Street early Saturday morning. Woodville receives Dominion Educational Partnership Grant
Woodville Elementary has been awarded a $3,000 Dominion Educational Partnership Grant for the 2007-2008 school year. The grant, awarded to school projects designed to improve math and science education for students in grades K–12, will fund a program that features field trips for students and parents to the James River and its parks. The trips will provide hands-on activities to supplement the students’ classroom studies in math and science. [via]

streets closed after officer assaulted
Several streets were closed this morning after a man barricaded himself in his home at 506 North 29th Street. When police responded to a report of a domestic assault at around 4AM, the responding officer was assaulted upon arrival. The suspect was taken into custody around 8:15AM. [via]

We’ve heard that “an Animal Control officer had staked out Chimborazo Park yesterday and was busting everyone for letting their dogs off the leash to run around — also checking to see if they had licenses”. Can anyone confirm this?

update on Union Hill A&E house
We’ve heard that A&E will be filming a segment for Flip This House @ 816/818 North 23rd Street Street on Wednesday/Thursday of this coming week, weather permitting. The subject will be the Gable Painter’s renovation of the double house, underway since March. The segment is scheduled to air on Saturday 11/17@8PM.

Mayor’s Roundtable for September
Not to be confused with McQuinn’s 7th District Roundtable on 9/22 previously announced, the next Mayor’s Roundtable for the 7th District has been set for Tuesday, September 18, at the EDI building from 7-9PM. The topic will be the Richmond School Board, with the honorable Keith West, 7th District School Board Member, participating in the discussion. Former School Board Member Reggie Malone and Torey Edmonds, community liaison, will also be part of the discussion.
