Police say the initial investigation “indicates the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute between the [male] victim and a female.”According to police, a female has been taken into custody.

from the RTD:

A man was shot to death yesterday inside the van where he lived about a block from the Richmond Police Department’s 1st Precinct headquarters on North 25th Street.

I would like to know where were the police that all park and go into that building on North 25th Street. What is or should I say what was the purpose in having a percent placed there.

The purpose of having the police station there was to get the officers back into the community. But….there is no way the police can be everywhere all of the time and there is no way they can prevent a homicide. If someone wants to kill another person, they simply wait until the police leave. Tap, you sound to me the type of person that would watch a crime and NOT call the police or not get involved when the police show up. The police need assistance from the community. The last thing they need is yet another “Monday morning quarterback.” Without the community’s help, there is no way the police can do it alone.

And I have you to know, there were 2 officers there before the call was dispatched (it’s how the calls are put on the computer in the police cars) and 1 of the officers, who lives in the area, was off duty and took his wife with him on the call. These officers were instrumental in making the arrest in the case.

The police do more than just arrest people and enforce the laws. They are also babysitters and social workers that have to solve all of society’s ills. The lack of coping and interpersonal skills cannot be solved by the police and this is why the police are called in the majority of the cases.

Thanks for asking why the police station is there and I hope I answered your question.

^^ Can someone tell me why there is a police station right on 25th st, and it’s no more than 50 feet away from basically an open air drug market operating at 25th and Venable st intersection?…I mean do they look out the stations windows? Better yet do they even open up the blinds to get some sunshine?

In the past two months the police have made 32 arrests at that intersection.

The police are in other areas patrolling and making arrests. If the only thing the police did was sit in the building and look out the windows, you can be there would be a steady stream of people complaining about the lack of police presence in their community.

Also, if you know so much about the open air drug market, please share your “knowledge” with the police. I’m quite sure you know so much more than they do. If you know of a better location for the police station, please let Mayor Wilder know so he can build them a new one. The one they’re in could stand to be replaced. I can only hope this answers your question.

JohnL : Not to make light of the issues on 25th/Venable or question the validity of your response, but I have a question for you — have you been to any of the public meetings where either of the Lts in charge of sectors 111/113 have spoken about what they are doing?

It is because of these presentations that I feel like I have an understanding of the police are engaged in and what I can expect from them w/ regard to local issues. I also have a greater understanding of the responsabilities of the neighborhood in cleaning up our own messes.

^^okay so what about the issues in mosby court north mosby court south and mosby court central??? I mean the City jail is right down the hill or right across the street!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The city jail is made to house criminals. The deputies down there have no enforcement responsibilities whatsoever. When something happens, they call the police in. As for anything with the word Mosby attached to it……….that is a society problem. You have generation after generation living and growing up there with skewed values and morals. Until the system that created that environment is dismantled and the community comes forward and helps the police there will be nothing the police can do alone to fix anything.

It amazes me that some people still don’t get it. The police are here to scrape up the bodies, file reports and try to piece together information after the crime has been committed. You cannot depend on the police to protect you. You have to be pro-active and learn to protect yourself.

Pay no atention to JohnL. He got the boot from richmondcitywatch for spreading his negativity and copying/pasting crimes for the shear pleasure of it. He will never be engaged in the community. His sole purpose on this planet is to wallow in self-pity and try to bring the rest of the community down with him.
