We’ve received word of a number of thefts of heat/HVAC units in the area. The suspects cut the wires and pipes to the units and take the whole thing. What can one do to prevent this kind of thing?

shooting at Jessamine and Burton
Officers called to the intersection of Burton and Jessamine just after 4:30am Saturday found a black male in his mid-40s to late 50’s facedown in the alley. Residents say they heard gunshots around 2:30am but didn’t think the shots were coming from the area. [via]

man in river identified
A man whose body was found in the James River on Sunday morning was identified as Stone Edward Hope, 57, of the 3200 block of P Street. Mr. Hope had been reported missing nearly two weeks earlier. According to a Henrico County police spokesman, there were no obvious signs of trauma to Hope’s body. [via]

shooting on 20th street
Two people were wounded last night at about 10:20pm in a shooting in the 900 block of North 20th Street. Police were looking for three men seen leaving the area in a late-model sedan. [via]
