I’ve heard recently that 1) there have a been a rash of day-time burglaries around the 1000 block of 22nd Street (quickly in and out, through the back door), 2) that there have been recent rezoning requests for some of the light-industrial areas between 17th and 18th at Clay Street (to allow for commercial and residential use [aka apartments and condos]), and 3) that Ellwood-Thompson’s has bought the old Chimbo Mart.

I have to agree. I’d like to see something similar to E-T’s moving into the area.
#3 would be surprising. The Church Hill Market people have been advertising like crazy since they started construction. I can’t imagine they wouldn’t publicize the Ellwood’s name.
I was thinking that they were talking about the Chimborazo Supermarket or whatever, off Broad and to the east.
I got an unconfirmation about the Ellwood thing. They are apparently looking to open something in Northern Virginia, but not up here. Eh.
