The Market @ 25th partners with Lyft to bring subsidized rides, celebrates by delivering free Thanksgiving dinner

Lyft announced a partnership with The Market @ 25th, Church Hill’s highly anticipated new market with a mission, as their official rideshare partner to address the transportation barrier that makes the East End a food desert. As part of the sponsorship, Lyft will commit $10,000 of ride credit to the transportation fund that will allow shoppers at The Market @ 25th to benefit from heavily subsidized rides. Lyft will also have an in-store presence including the ‘Lyft Lounge’ waiting area where passengers can wait for their Lyft. Lyft signage will be placed in the parking lot to make pick up / drop-off simple for both shoppers and drivers.
The Market @ 25th will be spreading the word about Lyft service as part of their direct mail, radio, print, and television advertising communication and community events to ensure the entire community knows about the service.
In addition to transportation, offering earnings opportunities to shoppers and community members will be a focus of Lyft’s efforts. Lyft will establish an on-site driver recruiting space within The Market @ 25th. Drivers who activate on-site will receive a bonus for their activation and The Market @ 25th will also receive a bonus which will serve to replenish the Transportation Fund.
“During community listening sessions, our neighbors spoke repeatedly about transportation being a barrier to food shopping,” states Norm Gold, Developer and Operator of The Market @ 25th. “Lyft is bringing an invaluable resource to the East End by not only providing ride service, but also ride subsidies that address food access issues.”
“The efforts of the leadership team from The Market @ 25th and those of the Markel family are inspiring. We at Lyft are excited to support through an innovative partnership aimed at improving food access and creating earnings opportunities within the community,” said Cabell Rosanelli, Market Manager for Lyft Richmond. “These two elements are foundational in nature and engender a thriving community. As such, Lyft will provide discounted rides for shoppers and will also have an on-site presence highlighting the opportunity to earn through driving with Lyft.”
To celebrate this partnership, Lyft and The Market @ 25th will deliver Thanksgiving dinner for 25 families within the community.

This is fabulous. I wish there was a way to give priority to the elderly and widows/widowers. Then that lounge would really be buzzing. Trying to maintain your indepence is important at any age. Companionship too.
