Dangerous winter weather impacting blood collections

From Katie M – American Red Cross Blood Services

Extreme winter weather has hit about half of the U.S. population this week, blanketing cities in snow and ice and even resulting in power blackouts for millions. So far, dangerous weather conditions have forced drives to cancel in about 30 states, causing more than 15,000 donations to go uncollected.

While drives may be canceled and donors are stuck at home, thousands of patients a day are still counting on blood donations. If your area is not affected by weather, now is a great time to make an appointment to give blood.

Join us to donate blood and help save lives at The Graduate Hotel on Wednesday, March 3 or Thursday, March 4 from 9 am to 5 pm daily. All blood donations will be tested for the COVID-19 antibodies and there will be free T-shirts while they last!
