Shockoe Alliance to Hold Small Area Plan Community Meeting July 17, 2019
The Shockoe Alliance will hold its next community meeting from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on July 17, 2019 at MLK Middle School, 1000 Mosby Street.
The community workshop is the next step towards the development of the Small Area Plan and implementation strategy for Shockoe.
This meeting will include a brief presentation of public input received from both the approximately 200 participants in the first community meeting in April and the online input and survey responses collected to-date.
The meeting will feature a workshop-style discussion about the major themes identified at the April meeting, updates on key projects in Shockoe, and the solicitation of community input for use in developing plan concepts. Community leaders, city staff, and members of the Shockoe Alliance will serve as discussion facilitators.
The Shockoe Alliance is charged with guiding the design and implementation of concepts and recommendations for the future of Shockoe. Its ultimate goal is to create an innovative space of memorialization, learning, and transformation, all while protecting the area’s cultural and historic heritage.
