Mexican Food is coming to the Hill!! (Woohoo)

Kahlo’s Taqueria and Bar, LLC leased 1,864 square feet of Retail space at 718 N. 23rd St., Richmond. This is the triangle project at 23rd St. and Jessamine (on 23rd St between Union Market and Metzger Bar and Butchery).

This building is a mixed-used building owned by local resident/developer/real estate agent Matt Jarreau. This plot has a long history in the neighborhood, starting from 2009.  This has also been a goal of Matt’s for a while, as he told Richmond BizSense back in 2017:

“I’m seeking an interesting food concept for that space,” Jarreau said. “Something with a bar, something with good food that will serve the neighborhood.”

Located on the ground floor, Kahlo’s will also have a sizable outdoor patio space where Jessamine and North 23rd streets merge.

Mexican food is one of my favorite cuisines and I couldn’t be more excited about this new food spot in the neighborhood. We’re reaching out to the new tenants and will post an update once we have more info.  Tentatively we’re told it should take about 4 to 6 months for setup/construction of the new space.
