Almost a tornado over Church Hill this afternoon!

Mike from Union Hill shares:

I caught this video (@ 4:53pm) of a smallish tornado forming & dropping down during one of the MANY warnings. It moved right>left over the (apparent) Church Hill skyline as I looked East from the Northbound lane of the 9th Street bridge. You have to watch carefully and patiently as it goes in & out of shape. Haven’t seen “rotation” since I was a boy in N.W. Ohio.

Too bad it didn’t Shockoe Bottom where all those shootings happen every weekend.

Yup that’s about 15 minutes from my house. We were in our safest part of the house for hours today!

The tower to the right looks to be Cedar Street Baptist. If the funnel is over CH, it’s like it’s roughly following 25th and veering west toward Mosby (though, it could be miles past CH).
I adjust the screenshot so that you can see the funnel gets about to the treeline in the video at one point.

The tower is Richmond Hill.
Crazy footage!

The Childsavers tower by Richmond Hill has a flat top. Of the steepled towers, the orientation made me think Cedar, but it could be one of the others.

Jason Paul Smith, Just how would your suggestion do any good / help / improve gun violence?

I am just grateful that no one was hurt .

Awesome footage of the same tornado taken from a plane landing at RIC:

I’d just gotten to my gate at RIC – Miraculously the Allegiant flight to Nashville left on time! Glad this thing passed us by.

I saw several of these but they all vanished before reaching the ground.

Depth Perspective is hard to tell on the video but looks like it is at least 25th and Nine Mile or further back? But, we had lesser winds and tornado warnings and the sirens went off. From what I was told, they were not sounded with actual sightings. Wonder why?

Eric, from my experience they sound the alarm whenever there’s a tornado warning.
