I’ll just watch the inevitable neighborhood fireworks. One almost landed on my roof last year.

This super sucks. Watching fireworks from Jefferson Hill was so much fun.

I miss them too.

The fireworks show on Brown’s Island lasted from 2011-2015, and the event’s two corporate sponsors, Dominion Power and WestRock — formerly Mead- Westvaco, were no longer willing to provide the funding of around $100,000 for the event – which was designed to attract business.

Also, From what I know, you can thank the people who complained about the noise echoing through Shockoe into Church Hill during these events. I miss the fireworks from Brown’s Island as well.

You can see fireworks that are visible from Libby Hill Park during the weekend of the fourth, check the newspaper or its online counterpart for dates. The fireworks displays seen are from various Chesterfield County locations (and perhaps Powhatan?) and Richmond’s Dogwood Dell, though the mature trees can obscure some of them from the Dell.

The Diamond has fireworks displays too, though no longer vivsible from the Grace St overlook because if the large parking deck that was built by VCU/MCV some years ago. Hardywood Brewery usually has an event on the 4th providing a great view of the fireworks from The Diamond. The riverfront certainly was a great location for the fireworks display, maybe some sponsors will bring them back back in the near future.

I feel like I’ve heard some loud firework displays from inside. Usually in the evening. Haven’t seen them, but I haven’t gone out to look. Where would they be coming from? Anyone else heard them? Near the post office?

@9 Ashley Dawn Goodmundson

You are hearing them from the Diamond whenthe Flying Squirrels play. The have scheduled 23 fireworks displays this year sponsored by Southern Virginia Ford Dealers on Saturday and Thursday games, I believe.
