Tree’s Tacos and Tips and other familiar businesses moving locations

Here’s a message from Adriana from Tree’s Taco’s and Tips:

Tree’s tacos and tips will be moving from 2518 E.Main street
Shockoe bottom
We are sad to leave but a big developer bought the lot
And because the person that rent had month to month lease
They gave us until the end of june to vacate?
So we are looking for a place to move
Our food truck…
Hope to see my Church Hill neighbors and customers that became friends before we leave…
Tree and myself are very thankful for the hospitality at shockoe bottom
We let you know where we are going…
Thank you so much!

Update: This also seems to include the Shockoe Bottom Automobile & Tire Corp, which would be a shame. We’ll reach out to them and update this as we hear things.

I saw that the tire place is leaving too. Does anyone know what the development is that is going in at that corner; another apartment complex maybe?

According to the discussion happening on the Facebook page… they’re pushing through a plan for a Dollar General… after all the talk of trying to focus on small and minority businesses.

I saw. This is a shame for sure.

Goodness gracious. That is very disappointing. With the new apartments across the street and $400,000 homes sprouting up in the area, I expected something different.

So the other rumor is a drive through Starbucks. Not sure if that’s better…

Starbucks abandoned the grocery store, so I am not why they would be interested in coming back. With more rumors about the space starting to come forward I am guessing that we will have to wait and see and not put any value in any rumors until we see the bundling permits.

Good point. I’ll update once we hear something concrete.

I read an article last week that explained why Dollar General stores are crime magnets. Apparently in a 4 year period in Dayton OH the 7 Dollar Generals in town accounted for 29% of all robbery calls in the city (86). The article explains that they are a predominantly cash business, usually have only one employee in the store at a time, and don’t invest in security. Robbers see this as opportunity…
