Richmond Public Schools Graduation Info

Below is an excerpt from the Richmond Public School Newsletter. There is a plan in place for graduation ceremonies for Seniors (YAY!).

Graduation – Based on feedback we received from students, families, staff, and community members, we’ve decided to offer TWO graduation experiences for our seniors this year: in-person and virtual. We’re thrilled to be able to make this happen for our seniors!

In-Person Ceremonies – The in-person ceremonies will allow our students to experience the most important part of graduation – walking across the stage in their cap and gown to get their diploma – but with a couple of differences given the coronavirus. First, seniors will be walking across the school’s football field or gym instead of the auditorium stage. Second, given social distancing requirements, our graduates will have specific time slots and will only be able to bring three family members. Please note that all of the in-person ceremonies will take place from June 23 through June 30. Specific information for each school, including the exact dates and time-slots, will be shared shortly. We can’t wait to see our graduates in their cap and gown!

Virtual Ceremonies – Each RPS high school will have a personalized virtual ceremony that we’ll broadcast online at a specific time (see below for details). Everything from the Valedictorian’s speech to the roll call of seniors will be pre-recorded, but students and families will be able to post congratulatory comments in real-time via the virtual ceremony website. In addition, once it’s broadcast, students and families can re-watch it at any time. We’ll have more details soon, but please mark your calendars for the dates and times below.
