What’s going on with the Construction in the Capital Trail at Shockoe Bottom?

Those of us who frequent our part of the Capital Trail here in Shockoe Bottom may have noticed construction going on by the entrance of the wall.

Right across from Bottom’s Up Pizza!

I reached out to Cat, a representative from the Virginia Capital Trail Foundation, and she said that their friends from Capital Trees are reforming the Capital Trail area in Shockoe Bottom into a garden/park! Click here for a picture and plan for more info from their website!

Here’s an example of the work Capital Trees aspires to accomplish in our community!

Capital Trees is a non-profit organization that strives to make Richmond a greener, more livable Richmond through the thoughtful planning, planting, and maintenance of public green places. Their projects include the The Low Line, Great Shiplock Park, and The 14th Street Initiative.

Further down the Capital Trail, Capital Trees is responsible for all of those beautiful plants during their Low Line initiative we see while visiting the area!

It will be very exciting to see what Capital Trees will accomplish with this endeavor, especially with how much I personally use the Capital Trail on my walks! Hopefully the construction won’t last too long! For more from us on the Capital Trail, click here!

Admittedly, right now the construction does look a bit rough, but it will be worth it in the end! What do you think? Comment below!
