George Mason Elementary to Be Renamed

Guiding principles for new school names:

  • School names should be relevant to Richmond or Virginia history, culture, or geography.
  • School names must not discriminate and/or cause offense on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, disability, or LGBTQ+ identity.

All school name suggestions will be made public.

I am having a brain melt cuz I can’t recall the name of the African Woman who was an architect who lived in that area and has a park named after her that is right where the school is but that’s who the school should be named after…will drive by after voting and see..

More wasted money…why don’t we just call schools by the name of the locality and a number….Richmond, 1, 2 3,4…keep it simple since so many people are”offended” by history. Just thinking out loud…

Changing school names for the sake of ‘social justice’ is a total waste of taxpayer money. If the parents, PTA, etc of the school district want to change the name, let them raise the funds on their own.

And the city continues to bilk the taxpayers but can only make decisions to make the woke people feel good. Keep on paying those taxes, results astound me every day.
