You’re trying to show off East End food to your family, where are you going?

Inspired by Reddit

I have a real white suburban family that thinks “Applebee’s has perfectly cooked steaks”. Personally, for their general tastes I was thinking 821 or Mojo’s.

I’d like to go to a Richmond local spot without putting them too far out of their zone. Any other spots to think about would be awesome.

What do you say East Enders? It is a real struggle sometimes to show us how many great options we have as foodies here in the East End. Do we take them to The Roosevelt? Union Market? Proper Pie? Soul ‘n Vinegar? What about options in Shockoe and Fulton? Where do you take your family?

Dutch and Co is my go to. If they stay over night, Sub Rosa for breakfast.

Honestly if their go-to is Applebee’s, Dutch may be a little too different for them. I would recommend Hill Cafe or Patrick Henry Grill. And this is from a HUGE Dutch fan! Definitely SubRosa for breakfast though!

Pomona for breakfast, pastries from Subrosa, lunch at Grisette, cocktails and snacks or dinner at either Dutch, Roosevelt, Alewife or Metzgar. We are super spoiled here in Church Hill, unlike our dining options that existed when we moved here 13 years ago.

For a grab and go lunch or dinner, proper pie (best meal and sweet pies in the world), The Nile for home cooked clean absolutely delicious food, Union Market to grab Mediterranean Bakery dips and good bread and can’t go wrong wine choices, Muffins from WPA, 8 1/2 for fantastic Italian that you can eat off for 2 or 3 days, Best Pub in the city hands down, Patrick Henry Grille and Pub, I love the ribs from Alamo, the list is so long. Seriously I don’t need to leave my neighborhood anymore… Then there is Millies and Tio Pablo, and there are those mentioned by others I haven’t even tried yet!

Mike and Maddy’s has the best classic breakfast sandwiches on the Hill!
