17th Annual “Set up a table Celebrate a Child” Community Festival

We got some questions from the community about a festival happening in Jefferson Park today. We stopped by for a minute and we were able to get some info from Mr. Bagby the community organizer.

Mr. Bagby told me that the event started 17 years ago in his front yard. He simply fired up his grill, made some hamburgers, and started talking to the kids in the community. 17 years later the festival has grown. It has sponsors, is recognized and supported by the City of Richmond, and still has the same goals today; to reach out to kids and teens in the area to talk about paths forward such as higher education, entrepreneurship, etc.

We didn’t know about the festival until today so we apologize for the short notice. However, if you have a free minute drop by and check it out. It’s running today, August 17th, from Noon to 6p. There’s a DJ playing some good tunes, free food, and non-alcoholic drinks (it is a festival for kids after all).

Also, if you’re a neighbor, yes the music was a little loud. However, the festival is once a year and for a good cause. Your patience and support are appreciated.
