InLight Richmond 2019 at Chimborazo Park!

November 15 and 16 at Chimborazo Park

One of the most epic events here in Richmond is happening right down the street in Chimborazo Park. InLight Richmond is sort of a magical night where artists and technicians put up an epic show of lights, design and great photo ops. So, are you excited about all of this attention to the East End? Or, are you worried about the potential parking issues?

Here’s some of the press release:

InLight 2019 will take place at Chimborazo Park in the Church Hill neighborhood of Richmond. Artists are invited to propose projects that critically engage with the social and geographic history of this site. Two key moments in the park’s history include being the location of the largest Confederate military hospital during the Civil War and following Emancipation, hosting a Freedmen’s community for formerly enslaved African-Americans. 1708 seeks artists and projects that respond to, elaborate on, and propose new ways of understanding these complex histories.

It used to be epic – it’s gone downhill the last-few years – too many videos! Come on artists – we’re not dragging ourselves to an outdoor art event in NOVEMBER (cold!) to see some silly video you put together. Actually do installations again! The best year I thought was the cobblestone area of Shockoe Bottom.
