Are you looking for a local open mic night?

There’s a lot of opportunities to express yourself creatively through the open word/open mic nights. Whether it’s at The Writer’s Den event hosted by local poet master, Megan Rickman-Blackwood at the Hof building, or if you’re into local events now at Small Friends Records and Books.

Zoe from Small Friends writes:

We started doing a monthly open mic night called The Writing on the Floodwall: An Open Mic for Stories and Poems on the second Wednesday of each month. This one’s also a little ways off- the next one is June 12.

The Writing on the Floodwall is a cabaret for spoken word at Small Friend Records & Books.

If you’ve ever written a thing (a poem, a story, a zine, a recipe), come read it out loud.

If you’ve ever read a thing you liked (a tract, a play, a list, an essay), come read it out loud.

And if you enjoy the sound of words read aloud, come listen.

Slots are seven minutes a piece. Sign up at the door. Slots fill up quickly, so arrive on time!
