OMG…This is a horrendous act of cruelty. The thing responsible for this should be subject to public stoning.

Who do we contact to offer financial support for this pup?

Unbelievable. This person is sick and twisted. Anyone that could do something like that to a living creature is a sociopath & until he’s caught & locked up or dead there is a chance he’ll do it again. Please post any updates you get about this case.if anyone thinks offering a reward would lead to findinf this sick person I would like to know. I’ll get to work raising some $ based on feedback. I just don’t know whar is more important- catching this guy or paying this little pitty’s Vet bills. Can someone from RACC weigh in?

@1 Yes! But I worry that might be too nice of a punishment.

Everyone please donate to help this pup. I sure will be.

I have to agree with everyone on this. I read about this poor guy last night on Facebook.
There is NO need for this.
Citation, a few days in jail, none of that is enough punishment for the person who did this.

The sick bastard needs to be caught and prosecuted to the fullest. Do the same thing to him/her eye for an eye. This poor dog was so defenseless. This is so cruel and it saddens me that people would do this type of thing…???????

Prayers for Tommie. I live in Lexington and sent what I could do his medical fund. I believe RACC also posted a link to a growing reward fund for leads to catching the perpetrator.

Probably someone who fights dogs and this one lost and is how these cruel bastards treat them.

I see that his burns are getting worse instead of better and the hospital said that he may not make it. When a human is burned that badly, it is very hard and pneumonia usually sets in too complicating an already compromising situation. He can’t even eat because the inside of his mouth is severely burned.

Again, here is where you can donate and put that the funds are for Tommie (the name they gave him) in the notes. Any funds that remain will go towards other emergency cases.

UPDATE

Tommie is not doing well and though everyone wants him to pull through, his prognosis is not good. They even called in burn unit specialists from MCV and they are not hopeful that he will recover. Prayers and Positive Energy needed as well as donations.

When a body is burned that bad, there are high risks of infections, fluid buildup, pneumonia, and the body shutting down.

@13 Martha Burford

Yes, there is a Reward Fund that has grown to at least $10,000 to catch the person. You can donate through the same RACC link if donating towards Tommie’s vet bill but just put REWARD in the notes if you are donating towards that.

I am sure people are keeping up online about Tommie but here was the latest.

On Thursday, RACC posted that Tommie “was done laying down. He got up and walked away from his bed.”

“We are not out the danger zone yet, but for today, we win,” RACC posted on Facebook. “…we are cautiously optimistic…” “He is in a rough patch right now.”

Also, they said: “Just a friendly reminder-please DO NOT call VVC for updates on Tommie-they can’t release information and their staff need to answer true emergency calls.”

Unfortunately, Tommie passed away after 6:00 this morning. His body just gave out but they said he was not feeling any pain due to meds. The reward has risen to $25,000 due to other animal rescue societies and this has gained international attention. I hope they find the person who did this.

Because of the outpouring of support and so many people attending (almost 1,000 people so far) and others interested in going (nearly 6,000 people and climbing) to Tommie’s memorial services, the RACC decided to have a series of open houses next week from Tuesday thru Saturday. (M-F 2:00-7:00) and (Sat 12:00-5:00) at RACC, 1600 Chamberlayne Ave., Richmond VA 23222
