On Tuesday, November 20th, children participating in The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club in Church Hill are receiving FREE Thanksgiving dinners to share with their families at home.

“It’s a blessing to these families to not have to worry about the cost of a Thanksgiving meal,” said Hugh Jones, executive director of The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club. “Instead, they can focus on spending time together at the dinner table.”

Food Lion and Ukrop’s are teaming up to provide 125 local families with everything they need to celebrate the holiday. Food Lion is donating the chicken, stuffing, vegetables and mashed potatoes. Ukrop’s is contributing the pies and rolls.

Volunteers from both Ukrop’s and Food Lion will assemble bags full of the Thanksgiving favorites and distribute them to families as they pick their children up from our Club. Families will pick up their meals at Franklin Military Academy, the temporary Club location while the space on R Street is being renovated.

Assembly will take place between 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Pick up runs through 6:30 p.m.
