The Rotary Club of Church Hill (RCCH) ended their 2017-18 year on June 30 with a $5,700 donation to the Robinson Theater Community Arts Center (RTCAC). The RTCAC was the main beneficiary of the Hill Topper 5K, a charity run that weaves through the Church Hill community, held in conjunction with the Church Hill Irish Festival. This year’s race was held on Sunday, March 25 and had over 240 runners. The 2019 event will be on Sunday, March 24.
In addition, the Club was able to supply dictionaries for the 3rd-5th grades at both Bellevue and Chimborazo Elementary Schools, as well as dictionaries for the 2018-19 rising third graders at both schools. Funds for this project were provided through a district grant the Club received in 2017. The RCCH is involved with many community and global projects such as: Rise Against Hunger; Feedmore; National Night Out; Habitat for Humanity’s LEGO Build; RTCAC Movie Night; Asbury UMC Family and Friends Thanksgiving; Angel Tree; Holiday Cards for Heroes; school supply drives; Great Shiplock Park cleanup; and Purple Pinky Night, an event to raise funds to help eradicate Polio in third world countries.
The Rotary Club of Church Hill meets on Monday nights at Patrick Henry’s Pub (upstairs) located at 2300 E. Broad Street. Happy Half Hour is at 6:00 PM, meeting at 6:30. For more information, please visit the Club’s website at http://churchhillrotary.org.
