From Roaring Pines Instagram:
It’s simple, we love brooms. Does that make sense? No, probably not. Do we care, not really.
We started Roaring Pines five years ago to highlight the American manufactured goods people use everyday. The mundane objects, brooms, buckets, baskets, soap and the like. Companies big and small, some made in factories, some made by hand.
Over the years we’ve fallen in love with one category in particular, brooms, and watched a lot of those brands go out of business right in front of our eyes. So much so that two years ago we stated studying how to make brooms, working under broom makers, visiting them near and far, in sheds and warehouses. Trying to see if it was even possible for us to throw our hat in the ring and try to keep it going.
One of our mentors just retired at the age of 90, and let us purchase his equipment in hopes it wouldn’t get scrapped. Do we think we can solve all that ails the broom industry? No. Is it fiscally irresponsible to give up the shop and soda fountain to pursue this dream? Yes. Do we think we can continue the craft of broom making for another generation? We’re sure going to give it our all.
Roaring Pines will continue to highlight, sell, and archive American manufactured goods online and through other spaces, in hopes of inspired others to be as dumb as us. Dayberry Brooms is our first step in that direction.
The bar, your favorite drinks and some of your favorite products, will live on in the space. The space will be updated too, the patio given a purpose, some new products brought into the space, some new menu items, both hot, cold and edible will be added to the menu. We will talk more about the incoming proprietors and their updates soon.
We’re very excited to have one of our neighbors take over the space and make it their own. Rest assured it is in good hands and will be run by a couple of nonesuches we admire greatly, and who have already been involved in a few of our favorite places around town both past and present.
We want to thank all of our neighbors, regulars, broom customers, coffee fans, egg cream aficionados, and employees, for the support over the last five years we’ve spent in the East End.
Now if you’ll excuse us we’ve got to go see a man about a broom.

Roaring Pines is having a moving sale. “Most Stuff” is 30%-50% off. They will be open until the 21st or until they run out of stock. Let’s wish Drew and his crew the best on their next venture. I personally love my broom from Roaring Pines. I never thought I would write that sentence but my eyes are open. Thanks, Drew.
