New Kaboom playground at Peter Paul Development Center

Last week community volunteers, Peter Paul Development Center, Kaboom and Carmax employees gathered together to build a new playground at Peter Paul Development Center. All of the planning and preparation lead to one day to install the playground and also create new games and gardens for the youth at Peter Paul to enjoy. To kick off the event, speakers shared their thanks and encouragement to the volunteers who included counsel woman Cynthia Newbille, Sheriff Antionette Irving, Peter Paul Executive Director Damon Jiggetts, and parents of children at Peter Paul.  After letting the cement settle over the weekend, the playground was safe for the kids to enjoy on Monday.  Not letting the rain stop the celebrations, the kids came out to see the playground which they designed.  The youth created a handmade paper chain for the ribbon cutting ceremony which contained the colors of all the organizations that came together to make this happen and special messages of thanks and hope for the playground.

In 5 Hours…

250 Volunteers
137 Cubic yards of mulch
3 Pallets of 80 lb bags of cement

Created a play space
