Peter Paul is building a playground! This amazing project is a collaboration with KaBOOM!, The CarMax Foundation, Peter Paul, and the East End community. The April 2018 Peter Paul eNews goes further into detail:
As part of the KaBOOM! model, the playground is designed by the children and parents that will use it. To make that possible, KaBOOM!, Peter Paul, and The CarMax Foundation hosted a Design Day on March 29. The team set up a room at the Center where a group of students first gathered to dream big about their visions for a playground at Peter Paul. They drew images which were then used in the parent session.
After the children’s portion of Design Day, Peter Paul parents and staff members gathered to use the students’ drawings as inspiration to develop outlines for three possible playground designs. The adult portion is an important element of this project, as it gives parents and community members the chance to participate so that the playground can truly be by and for the community.
We are so excited for the next big step, which will be to actually build the playground on June 7! We need YOU to help us build! If you are available to volunteer that day, please reach out to Rosemary Jones – or register online by clicking here .
