East End Bike Bike Tour

From the Better Housing Coalition: WEDNESDAY, MAY 9TH 6 – 8 PM
Richmond’s East End is on the rise. Since BHC began its work in the neighborhood 20 years ago, much has changed. While we’re ecstatic about widespread reinvestment in the area, Church Hill’s new-found popularity comes an unintended consequence: apartment rents and home prices have risen out of reach for many of our neighbors. During this easy, mostly flat bike tour, you’ll see first-hand how BHC’s revitalization efforts have spurred reinvestment and renewed interest in the historic community through the transformation of blighted properties, stabilization the housing market, and preservation of affordable housing for both long-time and new residents. Get a sneak peek at BHC’s latest development under construction as well as other community ventures creating opportunities for residents. The tour will depart from the corner of R St. and N 28th St. at 6:00PM, and return to the Somanath Senior Apartments for a roof-top networking happy hour at 7 p.m.; light refreshments will be provided. This event is free, but registration is required. Participants are invited to park at Good Shepherd Baptist Church’s Q St. Lot between 28th and 29th St. Thanks to our partner, Bike Walk RVA, 20 bikes from Richmond Rides are available for your use! At registration, if you’d like to reserve a spot for a free rental bike select RIDES; if you’ll BYOB (bring your own bike) select BYOB. Space is limited – first come, first served! Click below to register for the Wednesday, May 9th tour.
