Notorious slumlord accused of trying to scam bankruptcy court

Richmond BizSense is reporting that Oliver Lawrence has been trying to hide assets in his bankruptcy case.

In 2009 Lawrence was sentenced to house arrest in one of his own shabby houses on 19th Street.

In 2007  Lawrence was served with 175 violations on his buildings by the city. At the time he owned an estimated 100 vacant buildings under various corporate entities, and according to owner listings on Vacant Richmond, at least 20 vacant properties in the Church Hill area.

Below see some examples of houses previously owned by Lawrence.

One of his companies was appropriately named “Bayou Properties.” (I envision either a swamp, or properties which are, in financial parlance “under water.” ) Seems he is now claiming he owns no assets — yet somehow his wife is worth million$!

I smell a rat — a swamp rat, to be exact.

Thanks for reminding us of that. It’s sad really. All the opportunities that are missed due to greed.
