That sucks. That said, Venable at 24th and Burton St. is pretty much an open air drug market. I hear a lot of shots coming from that area. What is it going to take for the police to do something about these issues?

Oh how awful.

Pretty sure that’s about 2 blocks from the police station. Hoping the response time was decent.

My 2 cents:
It will take some people calling them hundreds of times, visiting with and getting to know the sector lieutenant, taking pictures of cars, people and license plates, and adding names to the faces and presenting it to the police. It will also probably take someone willing to look up the owners of the houses that support the heroin-cocaine-kids-guns-prostitution economy and confronting, or buying them out.
And lastly and most importantly it will take people who can and do tell buyers and sellers ‘not in front of my house’ and mean it. Which can be a tall order, and dangerous, depending on how deep the market is.

At least, that’s what we did after we’d seen one too many shooting. And our drug market is down to about 10% of what it was. It took about 5 years.
