Is this the city’s worst bus stop?

From Omari Kadaffi Guevara via RVA Realspeak:

Behind all the overgrown brush coming through the fence of this city-owned blighted lot you can barely see an elderly Black resident of Magnolia Gardens waiting at the Greater Richmond Transit Company bus stop #2331 (Whitcomb & Lebanon Street). […] Is there any responsible party willing to put an end to this disgraceful condition and restore dignity to the Black woman!? Just pretend that there is a VCU dorm on this block instead of Black working families. Do I have to get the megaphone out?

Hope the city pulls through maybe a covered bench and trash can. That’s rough.

Does anyone have hedge trimmers at least so people aren’t engulfed by the trees?

All this progress and shiny new things in the city, but some of the most basic things, like this bus stop, still can’t be dealt with properly. I’ve submitted requests for repair to See Click Fix on multiple occasions for TWO dangerous storm drains at Powhatan Park. They are immediately dismissed and never fixed. They’ve been this way for at least a decade. It’s shameful and so frustrating.

Max Hepp-Buchananfrom Bike-Walk RVA just sent out an email saying “Brantley and I would like to go clean this bus stop up ASAP. Anybody want to meet us there, at the bus stop, tomorrow morning at 10:30 AM? We will bring all of the needed supplies. You can just come as you are.”

Is that public housing across the street? It is not a new thing if the neighborhood dosent have high tax income for the city they tend to not give a shit.I.E Church Hill south of Leigh St. and Church Hill North of Leigh St. Could be a different country as far as Im concerned.

So hopefully everyone commenting about how terrible this bus stop is will be out helping Max and Brantley – right?

It’s on the local NBC channel web site tonight. For the love of all, John Murden Jr., what the hell are we going to do without you??

The news covered this last night and the City came and cleaned up the area. A trash can would be a good addition.
