New playground equipment at Jefferson Park playground

[sep]

The new playground equipment has been installed at Jefferson Park!

There are 2 new play structures, one designed for 2-5 year-old children, the other for 5-12 year-old children. The older swing set remains.

The 2-5 year-old set is designed to look like a train and bears the engine markings of C&O 231, buried under the park in the train tunnel collapse in 1925.

Anybody checked recently to see if the equipment is still there, or was Gary being a cynical sort-of-racist prick?

Jolly,
I’ll give you that Gary sounds cynical. I’ll even agree that you sound like a bit of a prick— can’t argue with the truth.

However, sort of racist (a category I do like, in that it nuances the Big and various world of prejudice) is kind of a reach.

The park has a history of vandalism. Jolly, you may be assuming that Gary is assuming that all the vandals are the archetypal blackkidsfrommosbycourt, and while that may be his assumption,
1. His post does not suggest that,
2. It may be fact that the vandalism at Jefferson Park has been caused by black folk or white folk only, given that crime is notoriously politically incorrect.
In which case, it’s not Gary that’s kinda racist, but that the reality of race in the neighborhood is perhaps, itself, kind of f###ked. Putting our heads in the sand about that last helps no one.
