ANSWER: The playground has been closed due to lack of use, and at least in part because it probably should not have been built on a dump site in the first place.

As the Briel St. Playground had seen minimal (or less) use since its install, in 2016 parks decided that equipment would be better suited in a more active community. In December 2016, we replaced the old playground in the Westwood Community with the Briel St. Playground set.
FYI – the playground was built on a dump site and had methane vents installed in and around the area. There have been times that DPU have recommended closing the PG when methane amounts were high.
