If he dies that will be like #8 for the year for Mosby. At this rate Mosby court would end the year with like 20-24.. Averaging about 2 a month. That’s about even with the city of Portsmouth I believe

Now I don’t live up there, but I suspect the code isn’t stupid if you want to avoid being a future contestant on “Shot Somewhere in Mosby, Probably.” If the dealers operate that openly and brazenly that everyone knows who they are, there is also probably a lot of intimidation, fear and coercion in the community.
What’s important, though, is that we all be as cavalier and insensitive about this as humanly possible.

Without immediate and decisive intervention, there will be approximately 20 bodies of young people coming out of upper Mosby between now and the end of the year.
If we had credible information that a terrorist was about to assassinate 20 Richmonders tomorrow, we would move heaven and earth to stop it; but that is essentially the information we have about upper Mosby today. It is a slow-motion, highly-foreseeable mass shooting about which nothing is being done. Not even a curfew. This is the most pressing issue in the East End and the City right now.
Grocery stores won’t fix this. Urban gardens and roundabouts won’t fix this. Marches and cookouts won’t fix this. And for what it’s worth, I am aware that my internet slacktivism won’t fix this either. I’m thinking. I’m praying. I’m plotting. And in the meantime I’m sounding the alarm on this with the rest of you.
@ BAF snitching is easy and anonymous. There are 3 or 4 easy ways to do it.
And frankly, it’s only snitching if you are on their side…..Otherwise it’s getting what’s yours as a citizen, taxpayer or not: police protection.
It’s better to snitch on your feet than live on your knees. And, when your community has gone to such a terrible place that people are killing each other every other week in an enclave the size a small village, you don’t actually have the option of safety. People being killed up there don’t seem to be all snitches or dealers.
Communities only get safety when at least some members stand up for it, and then only if the powers that be are wiling to get behind that. And this is about crime, so yes, standing up means witnessing and gaining the support of the police.
I think Lieutenant Mike is a good guy to talk to. And very willing to keep a confidence.
You pick your sides and live with the consequences in a neighborhood like this even if you remain silent.
Slow motion localized apocalypse, not just Mosby, but in every like neighborhood. We do let things get foul and nasty and murderous for the least defended among us. A bit less of that would be a good change.

People who live in these areas of the city don’t seem willing to take a risk for those they claim to love, or for themselves, in such a basic manner as sharing information that might make a difference in the circumstances that too often result in death.

A lack of understanding the concept of confidentiality makes the problem even worse. And surely that lack can’t all be laid at the feet of our failed public schools, because for those who don’t know what the word means, plenty of people have explained it slowly and simply – seemingly – to no avail.”
