Richmond.com has info on a fatal shooting early this morning on Raven Street in Mosby:
Officers were called shortly before 2:30 a.m. Monday to the 1900 block of Raven Street, where they found a man with a gunshot wound inside a residence.
Police are not yet calling this a homicide, rather it is a death investigation. So far in 2017 in Richmond 18 people have been killed, with 3 under the category of “death investigation”. This is the 4th killing in the East End in 2017.
This is the 2nd killing in the block of Raven Street in the past 6 weeks. Donyell Patillo was shot to on the 1900 block of Raven Street doing the day on February 14.

Richmond Police detectives have identified this morning’s shooting victim on Raven Street as Kendell L. Coward, 34, of the 1900 block of Raven Street.
At approximately 2:18 a.m., officers were called to the 1900 block of Raven Street for the report of a person down. Officers arrived and found Coward inside an apartment, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Medical Examiner will determine cause and manner of death.
Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit are investigating the incident and believe Coward was shot while entering the structure, where he died.

The deceased, Kendall Coward, was an associate of Keon McDonald, who was arrested for the Feb 2017 killing on Raven St, and implicated in the March 2016 murder on Raven St. Mr Coward was also arrested in connection with the 2016 murder.

To add to the Raven St saga, a quick and not very scientific glance through CHPN shows there has been a murder on the 1900 block of Raven St (which is a dead-end street in more ways than one) in 1994, 2000, 2004, 2007, 2012, 2016 and 2017.
I already mentioned National Gangs and Homegrown gangs have problems. Mosby Court has more than a few Bloods gang members.
And to make this story even sadder, is that 2 of the three who were implicated in the April murder are now dead. James M. Williams was killed in June of last year.
