Mark your calendar and put on your stretchy pants for the inaugural Richmond Black Restaurant Week this March 6-12, 2017. Visit any one of the 20 participating restaurants for the 2-course lunch or 3-course dinner special and to help raise money for Renew Richmond.
Inner City Blues (home of Carolina Bar B Que) on Nine Mile, Sweat Teas at Main and 17th, Southern Kitchen on Main, and Loft 17 on Franklin Street are the closest participants, with other #RBRW17 restaurants scattered across the metro area.
The pledged goal of Richmond Black Restaurant Week 2017 is to raise $10,000 to support Renew Richmond. Renew Richmond envisions a community in which all members living in areas where healthy, affordable food is difficult to obtain have access to fresh produce and nutrition education they require to sustain healthy and productive lifestyles. While Renew Richmond’s programs serve individuals of all socioeconomic backgrounds, the nonprofit’s primary focus is low-income populations with increased statistical risk for nutrition related health issues such as diabetes, heart disease and chronic obesity.
