Man arrested in June shooting on Creighton Road

Richmond man has been arrested in connection with an early June shooting in the city’s east end.

Dashawn T. Davis, 22, of the 2200 block of North 25th Street, was arrested on August 26 and charged with malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. His booking photo is attached.

At approximately 9:39 a.m. on June 9, officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 2000 block of Creighton Road. Soon after they arrived, they located an adult male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

“From the start of this investigation, detectives have aggressively pursued every available lead,” said Lt. Jason Hudson with the Major Crimes Division. “Nearly three months later, their hard work and perseverance has paid off with the arrest of Mr. Davis.”

@ Katherine Jester – is that supposed to be yet another prison rape joke? Cause they’re tired and not terribly funny.

On an unrelated note, why isn’t he being charged with attempted murder? When I hear malicious wounding I sort of assume the weapon of choice was a knife or something sharp and it was used in a way that probably wasn’t intended to kill. I don’t understand how you can shoot at someone and not realize there’s a good chance that they could die as a result. Am I missing something here?
